Oscal, Blackview’s sub-brand has quietly launched a budget Wi-Fi tablet called the Oscal Pad 50. The tablet is unbelievably cheap which isn’t surprising because it doesn’t have much to offer. Let’s check out its features.
The Oscal Pad 50 has a simple design
The Oscal Pad 50 has a simple design and its body and frame are polycarbonate. It has a thickness of 9.85mm and it weighs 520.5g which makes it very comfortable to use. Apparently, it’s quite heavy but this is to be expected because it’s a very large tablet.
Don’t expect much from Camera
At the back of the device is a single 8MP primary camera lens and an LED flash which takes decent quality photos and is capable of recording up to 1080p videos.
The 8MP camera isn’t the best but it’s what this tablet has to offer especially because it’s very cheap. It also has a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
Much shouldn’t be expected from both the front and rear cameras but they’re not entirely bad, they should be able to take usable pics and videos to share on social media.
The Oscal Pad 50 is good for entertainment
It has a large 10.1-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 800×1280 pixels. It also feature dual box speakers which is good for entertainment purposes.
Unfortunately, it only supports Widevine L3 which isn’t as secure as the L1, it’s also impossible to stream HD contents on popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, HULU, Amazon Prime, etc.
It’s not for gaming
The Pad 50 is powered by a low-end processor you’ve probably never heard about called the Allwinner A133p. It’s a quad-core chip with a clock speed of 1.8GHz with no details about its benchmark.
Additionally the tablet has just 2GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device support 2GB virtual RAM expansion and its internal storage can be expanded up to 1TB via MicroSD.
The Oscal Pad 50 has a moderate battery
In additional to its large display which is great for watching videos, it also pack a large 5100mAh battery, providing a long-lasting support for whatever you use the tablet for. Additionally, it supports 10W charging which is able to fill the device should the battery runs out.
Other features are okay
The tablet ships with the Go version of Android 13 OS with DokeOS 3.0 Go edition custom skin on top that’s filled with tons of cool features, it also supports keyboard, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth 4.2, etc.
The Oscal Pad 50 is offered in Meteorite Grey and Lake Blue colorways and it retails for just $80 on AliExpress.
Final thoughts
The Oscal Pad 50 is an entry-level tablet that’s great for anyone looking to buy a very cheap tablet below the $100 price tag. While the price is enticing, it’s important to know that the tablet has little to offer and it only supports Wi-Fi, its specs is a clear indication that it’s not meant for gaming and taking high quality photos and videos.
