The IIIF150 Air2 Ultra was unveiled at the MWC 2024 event, it’s touted by IIIF150 as the thinnest rugged phone in the world, a claim that’s not valid because according to the brand, the IIIF150 Air2 Ultra has a thickness of 8.55 millimeters which means it’s slightly thicker than the Motorola Thinkphone by Lenovo that’s 8.3mm thick.
The Motorola Thinkphone remains the thinnest rugged phone in the world and it’s also the most powerful. This means that the IIIF150 Air2 Ultra is not the thinnest rugged phone but is among the thinnest rugged phones in the world.
Anyway, the IIIF150 Air2 Ultra is also very thin, it’s even thinner than the Ulefone Armor 23 Ultra even after having a much bigger battery, it’s also projected to be lighter than over 85% of rugged phones and it’s a rugged device that supports 5g connectivity. Let’s find out what more the Air2 Ultra has to offer.
IIIF150 Air2 Ultra Key Details
The IIIF150 Air2 Ultra is rated IP68 and IP69k, this means the phone is resistant to water, dust and high pressure water jets. According to the manufacturer, the device could survive submersion of up to 6 meters for over 30 minutes which is pretty insane. Additionally, it could survive a 1.8 meter drop.
The device has a unique rugged design and the module at its rear contains two huge separate circular protruded bumps which according to the brand are inspired by a fighter jet’s engines.
One of the circular bump houses the 108 MP main camera while the other contains a 64 MP night vision camera and dual IR emitters.
It’s also one of the few rugged phones with an optical fingerprint sensor
Further, the IIIF150 Air2 Ultra feature a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother and more responsive experience when scrolling through apps and playing around with the phone. In addition, it features an in-display fingerprint sensor and the display has a peak brightness of 2,400 nits, which means the is bright enough for use under direct sunlight.
Its battery is smaller than most rugged phones
It’s impressive that the phone has a very slim profile even after the huge 6,000 mAh battery it contains. I mean, the Redmi 9t has a 6,000 mAh battery but is thicker than this phone. Anyway, the phone supports 65W fast charging via a USB-C port.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 5g processor and it utilizes 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB internal storage. The Dimensity 7050 isn’t the best processor when it comes to performance but it’s still very efficient and capable of handling most tasks.
My final thoughts
These are the key features of the IIIF150 Air2 Ultra, it’s nice to see yet another rugged phone that’s stylish and is designed to be very comfortable to use. Even though the device is obviously not the thinnest rugged phone, it’s still one of the thinnest and while its weight isn’t disclosed yet, it’s projected to be lightweight as well.
Aside from it’s premium design, the phone would also offer decent performance and its 256 GB internal storage is large enough for lots of users. Honestly, it would have been better if the phone is equipped with a much bigger internal storage but hopefully, it supports MicroSD expansion.
The IIIF150 Air2 Ultra would launch before the ending of March, not just as one of the thinnest rugged phones but one of the few rugged phones with an In-display optical fingerprint sensor and 5g support.
As regarding its price, the rugged phone would retail for an affordable price and there would also be a pre-sale before it launches globally.
