Samsung has debut the Galaxy Tab Active 5 in an attempt to continue competing in the rugged phone market. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 (pretty long name) is the first rugged tablet of the year and it’s definitely a feature-packed rugged tablet but competition is getting stiff. The likes of Ulefone, Oukitel, Blackview et al, released groundbreaking rugged tablets last year and are expected to debut even better products at affordable prices this year and these brands are rapidly gaining worldwide recognition with loyal customers increasing as well.

The Tab Active 5 is a very bulky device, it’s 10.1mm thick and weigh 433g, this is a norm for rugged devices, just so you know there are rugged devices that are thicker and heavier than the Galaxy Tab Active 5.

The device has a display measuring 8.0-inches, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display features touch sensitivity which is adjustable via settings, this makes it possible to use this device while wearing gloves (also called “Glove Mode”) the touchscreen can also be used in wet conditions.

The rugged tablet ship with the Android 14 and according to Samsung, the device would receive 4 years of OS upgrades, this makes the Tab Active 5 better than rugged tablets from competing brands because devices from other rugged brands usually do not receive consistent OS upgrades.

The Tab Active 5 has a single rear 13MP (wide) F/1.9 main camera with 5MP F/2.2 selfie camera.
Additionally, the device is powered by the Samsung Exynos 1380 (5nm) octa-core chip, it also has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with up to 1TB storage expansion via MicroSD.

One of the best features of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is its removable battery, the device pack a 4900mAh battery that is easily replaceable and it support POGO charging (sold separately).
