At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event in Barcelona, global brands showcased different products including the crazy bendable concept phone from Motorola, smart glasses, phones with satellite connectivity and gigantic batteries, etc.
It’s practically impossible to list or mention all the products and innovations announced at the event, so I’ll just mention some of the products announced that are related to the niche that I’m passionate about.
So below are some of the tech products announced at the MWC 2024 event in Barcelona.
The most compact UFS 4.0 mobile phone memory chip announced by Micron
At the MWC event, Micron Technology announced the smallest UFS 4.0 mobile phone memory chip which is built on its advanced 232-layer 3D NAND technology and is designed for flagship phones.
According to the brand, the UFS 4.0 is designed with its latest controller and highly configurable firmware architecture, it’s also available in up to 1TB of storage capacity and the chip measures just 9 x 13 mm.
After testing the UFS 4.0 at Micron labs, the UFS 4.0 attained 4300MBps sequential read and 4000MBps sequential write speeds, which means it’s 2x faster than the UFS 3.1. Additionally, the UFS 4.0 launches apps 15% faster with 20% faster bootup speed and it’s power efficiency is 25% better than previous generations.
The UFS 4.0 was developed at the Micron joint consumer labs in the US, China and South Korea and is available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options.
Energizer Ultimate U660S Flip Foldable Phone
So after announcing the Energizer P28K, Avenir Telecom which is licenced to manufacture Energizer phones has also announced a foldable phone called the Energizer Ultimate U660S. This foldable is said to be one of the cheapest foldables to date. Let’s explore its top features.
Energizer Ultimate U660S specs
So the Energizer Ultimate U660s feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, when extended. Its display is slightly shorter compared to the 6.9-inch display of the Blackview Hero 10 which is another upcoming cheap foldable phone.
Under the hood, the U660S is powered by the Helio G99 6nm octa-core processor with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB internal storage. In the camera department, the phone feature a dual rear camera setup led by a 64 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP auxiliary camera, while the punch hole houses a 25 MP camera that handles selfies and video calls.
Additionally, it’s backed by a 3,600 mAh battery with an undisclosed fast charging speed and it ships with the Android 14 OS. Other features includes, Wi-Fi, NFC and dual SIM with 4G LTE connectivity.
Finally, the Energizer Ultimate U660S is projected to launch in Europe for €500 towards the ending of the year.
The Energizer U660S would definitely rival the Blackview Hero 10 and surprisingly, some of its features are similar to the features of the Hero 10, including its processor, RAM and ROM.
Although, the Hero 10 has a larger display, better 108 MP main camera and 32 MP selfie and it’s also going to retail for €399 meaning it’s cheaper.
Doogee Flip X
Another surprising announcement at the event was Doogee’s first foldable phone called the Doogee Flip X.
This is an attempt by Doogee to compete in the foldable market, also the Doogee Flip X would be one of the cheapest foldable phones when launched.
Its likely going to be cheaper than the Blackview Hero 10 and the Energizer Ultimate U660S and the image above reveals that the Doogee Flip X would feature a dual rear camera setup and an LED flash.
It would also have a center-aligned punch hole display with tiny bezels and would spot a black shade.
There are no details about its specs and features yet but the Flip X would be launching later this year.
