Unihertz has announced the 8849 Tank 3 Pro, the successor of the 8849 Tank 3. The rugged phone is identical to the 8849 Tank 3 in terms of design, specs and features but there’s a major difference between the 8849 Tank 3 Pro and the Tank 3.
What is the Main difference?
To put it simply, the Unihertz Tank 3 Pro or 8849 Tank 3 Pro is equipped with a DLP Laser Projector while the Tank 3 has a Laser Rangefinder. This is the major difference between both 5g rugged phones.
The DLP Laser Projector of the Unihertz 8849 Tank 3 Pro has a focus range of up to 3 m, 100 lumens brightness and its resolution is 480 x 854 pixels. Its resolution is inferior to the Tank 2 that supports 720p.

It’s built like a tank
The 8849 Tank 3 Pro by Unihertz has a nice and rugged build, its body material is the combination of plastic, metal and rubber.
It’s MIL-STD-810H certified, which means the device has been tested in different environmental conditions to prove its durability.
Additionally, it’s rated IP68 & IP69K, meaning it’s resistant to water, dust and high pressure water jets and according to Unihertz, the phone is shockproof as well.
Impressive and sharp display
Further, the Tank 3 Pro has a 6.79-inch FHD+ IPS LCD punch hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate providing a smooth and pleasant user experience. The brand never mention anything regarding a display protection.
Camera features are top notch
The rear camera module houses quad camera lenses consisting of a 200MP main camera, it’s the S5KHP3 a.k.a Samsung ISOCELL HP3, a 64 MP night vision camera, 50 MP ultra wide angle lens and an 8MP telephoto lens.
The camera combo is mind-blowing but unfortunately, there’s no OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The device is capable of recording up to 4K videos and it has a 50 MP selfie.
Performance won’t disappoint
The Tank 3 Pro is a beast not just because of its build but also because of its hardware. Under the hood, the Tank 3 Pro is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 8200 5g 4 nm octa-core processor with a clock speed of up to 3.1Ghz.
Memory is large enough
In addition, It has 16 GB RAM and 512 GB internal storage, even though it feature a large memory, it still supports both RAM (additional 16 GB virtually) and ROM (TF card of up to 2 TB) expansion.
The Tank 3 Pro is guaranteed to be able to handle almost any task assigned to it, thanks to its processor and memory configuration. It would also be great for gaming.
Long-lasting battery with hyper charging speed
With the Unihertz Tank 3 Pro, you shouldn’t worry about running out of power because it pack a gigantic 23,800 mAh battery that can easily last a week on a single charge.
Moreover, battery running low shouldn’t be a problem because it supports 120W fast charging which could rapidly top up the battery and what’s great is that a 120W charger is included in the phone’s package.
Other important details
Other features includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, OTG, side fingerprint and face unlock, FM radio, 3.5mm jack, GPS, rear camping light with red and blue warning lights, etc.
Finally, the 8849 Tank 3 Pro is projected to launch officially in March and would retail at a price similar to the Tank 3 which would be about $699.
